Overmolding is the process that injects the polymer onto the insert to make the joining of polymer and insert rapidly. One important feature in overmolding is interfacial adhesion between the polymer and insert. This paper utilized injection-compression molding to improve the interfacial adhesion property. This paper manufactured overmolded specimen using injection molding and injection-compression molding for comparison. The interfacial adhesion was characterized by optical microscopy and mode 1 fracture toughness.
오버몰딩 공정은 미리 제작된 물질 위에 고분자를 사출하여 이종 소재의 접합을 빠르게 진행할 수 있는 공정이다. 두 소재를 접합하는 공정의 특성상, 계면 결합력이 중요한 요소로 작용하며, 본 연구에서는 두 소재의 높은 결합력을 위해 사출압축 공정을 활용하였다. 결합 강화 정도를 비교하기 위해 사출 공정과 사출압축 공정을 활용한 오버몰딩 시편을 각각 제작하였으며, 광학 현미경과 mode 1 파괴인성을 통해 두 소재의 결합 정도를 비교하였다.
